Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Vancouver’s Fraser Street, JJ Dosa (Dosai) Indian Restaurant is a culinary gem that beautifully showcases the rich, diverse flavours of South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine. Specializing in authentic Indian and Sri Lankan dishes, this family-friendly diner offers a tempting menu that caters to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian palates, including seafood aficionados.

Step inside and you’ll find a cozy, welcoming atmosphere where the aroma of freshly cooked spices fills the air, instantly transporting you to the heart of South India and Sri Lanka. Whether you’re craving the crispy, golden Mysore Masala Dosa—a beloved South Indian staple famed for its perfectly spiced potato filling—or the hearty Sri Lankan Kothu Roti, JJ Dosa delivers an authentic, flavourful experience with every bite. The Kothu Roti, prepared with shredded flatbreads and curry masala, comes in several varieties such as vegetarian, chicken, lamb, and shrimp, letting you tailor your meal to your unique taste preferences.

Seafood lovers will appreciate the delicate balance of spices in their shrimp dishes, while Indo-Chinese fans can indulge in crowd-pleasers like Chilli Chicken and Gobi Manchurian, each bursting with robust, savory flavours. Don’t miss the Idiyappam, the subtly steamed rice string hoppers, which make for a delightfully light accompaniment or a wholesome main when paired with chicken or mutton kothu.

JJ Dosa’s commitment to authenticity and quality shines through not only in their food but also in the impeccable service. Guests praise the fast, polite staff and clean, unpretentious setting, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends. One regular, J P, mentions that it’s rare to find such consistent excellence in both dine-in and takeout options, highlighting the restaurant as the best South Indian spot in British Columbia. Meanwhile, Dhruvraj Singh raves about the crispiness of the Mysore Masala Dosa and the flavour-packed daily specials like the exceptionally good Kothu Roti, proving JJ Dosa’s dedication to keeping traditional tastes alive.

The menu also offers comforting indulgences like classic chocolate, vanilla, and mango milkshakes—ideal for balancing the spices or simply treating yourself. And for those craving something refreshing, the sugar cane juice comes recommended, as per Safiya Siddiqui’s glowing review, describing it as an unforgettable complement to her meal.

Conveniently located not far from the airport and boasting easy parking in a quiet neighbourhood, JJ Dosa is both accessible and a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle. Owner smiles and attentive service elevate the dining experience, making it as warm and memorable as the dishes themselves.

In essence, JJ Dosa is more than just a restaurant; it’s a heartfelt celebration of South Indian and Sri Lankan culinary traditions. Every dish offers layers of flavour, perfectly balanced spice, and genuine care that will leave you longing to return. Whether you’re a seasoned lover of Indian cuisine or a curious newcomer, this spot is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic, satisfying meals served with a smile.

Great food, so authentic and flavourful. Great prices and value too. Have eaten here and gotten takeout from here a few times, never had one complaint, which is shocking because I always complain about restaurants. I grew up eating this food and I can say without exaggerating that this restaurant has the best South Indian food I’ve had in BC. Service is fast and polite. Quiet neighbourhood to park in and walk around to other cafes/ice cream shop before or after eating here.

Authentic South Indian restaurant with great flavours and spice. The Mysore masala dosa was hot and crispy, just the way it should be. The red chutney could use a bit of improvement. They offer dine-in specials depending on the day, and the kothu roti for $10 was excellent. Very flavourful food overall and definitely worth trying.

Wow if ever you wanted an east Indian sri Lankan style meal look no further. The Kottu roti, lamb biryani and egg prata were the best we've tasted and similar to the indian restaurants we frequent in Malaysia. The masala uttapam was so thick it seemed better as a standalone dish or filler for anyone still hungry after eating everything else. Delicious experience!

Great little place not far from the airport. The food is simple and authentic. Not oily or creamy that most of the Indian restaurants tend to be. We loved the dosa, uttapam, yogurt rice and chicken 65. Place is clean and easy to find. Owner is great with smiles all around. Recommended if you are in the area

It was our first time trying Dosas and we really enjoyed it! This is how we ranked the taste based on what we tried: Butter Chicken, Mysore Masala, Andhra Lamb, Prawn Curry The host and other guests were nice and helped us with suggestions. Dosas are bigger and more filling than we expected so we needed to take leftovers home!

Possibly my favourite South Indian restaurant in Vancouver! We’ve dined here multiple times now and the food and the service has been excellent. My favourite dish is their podi idly and my partner loves their mutton bun parotta. The food here is amazing value for money. I hope the restaurant continues to thrive!
